We believe it takes a village to raise a child. Our Respite Care Providers share that providing routine support to Foster Families has enriched their lives. Long-term relationships have formed between all family members.
Respite Care Providers receive a Home Care Service allowance for each day or night the child is in their home, as well as mileage per kilometer for any pick-up or drop-off drives they complete.
Respite care is a part-time commitment. Foster Parents are in the greatest need of respite on weekends, during vacations, and over the spring, summer, and winter breaks.
ENRICHES RELATIONSHIPS
Foster Parents and Respite Care Providers develop strong relationships. Both caregivers become invested in the wellbeing of the Foster Child or Youth. Respite enables Foster Parents to rest and recharge for their full-time fostering commitment.
STRENGTHENS PLACEMENTS
Having consistent, caring, and competent respite homes greatly benefits Foster Children and Youth. New friendships are formed and new experiences are shared. This continuity of care and stability increases the success of every placement.
BUILDS COMMUNITY
Community strengthens everything we do. Respite Care Providers become an extended family to our Foster Children and Youth. This time provides another avenue for them to participate in healthy family relationships.
